Annie George is currently in her final year of undergraduate study at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire where she studies with Louise Crane. While at the Conservatoire, she has performed several roles in its annual opera scenes and main productions including Madame Popova in Walton’s 'The Bear', Mrs. Peachum in Britten’s 'The Beggar’s Opera' and Zweite Dame in Mozart’s ‘Die Zauberflote.’
Annie has also performed in professional opera choruses such as the National Gilbert and Sullivan Company's production of' 'Haddon Hall' and Arcadian Opera's production of Ethel Smyth's 'The Wreckers.'
Her oratorio experience includes solos in Rossini’s 'Petite Messe Solennelle', Mozart’s 'Requiem', Pergolesi’s 'Stabat Mater' and Rutter’s 'Magnificat.'
Annie also has a strong background in choral music. Before her Conservatoire studies, she sang with the Cantabile Youth Choir and the Christine Sumner Academy of Music. During her time at the Conservatoire, Annie has sung with the renowned Royal Birmingham Conservatoire Chamber Choir under the direction of Jeffrey Skidmore and Paul Spicer and has appeared on two of their CD’s with Somm Recordings.
Annie was recently a semi-finalist in both the ‘International Voice of the Future’ and ‘International Voice of Musical Theatre’ categories at the ‘Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod’ (July 2018.)
She has also been a prize winner in The Edward Brookes Lieder Prize and The Edward Brookes English Song Prize (2019.)
Annie’s upcoming roles include The Gingerbread in Opera Anywhere’s production of Humperdinck’s ‘Hansel and Gretel’, Ruth in Beechwood Opera’s ‘The Pirates of Penzance’ and Julia Bertram in the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire’s production of Dove’s ‘Mansfield Park.’
Annie has recently accepted a full tuition scholarship for the David Seligman Opera School at Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama from September 2019.
