Brigette De Poi is an emerging Australian Mezzo-Soprano who just completed her Gradate Diploma in Vocal Performance at the Royal College of Music, under Veronica Vessey-Campbell. Brigette previously graduated from the Queensland Conservatorium of Music with a Bachelor of Music Performance, under the tuition of the esteemed pedagogue Margaret Schindler.
Brigette’s Opera performances include the Mother in Humperdinck’s ‘Hansel & Gretel’, directed by Michael Gow and conducted by Johannes Fritzsch, as well as Mrs Herring in Britten’s ‘Albert Herring’, conducted by Nicholas Cleobury and directed by the academy-award nominated Bruce Beresford. She has also performed the role of the Third Lady in Gertrude Opera’s production The Magic Flute along with the role of Vera Boronel in Menotti’s The Consul. In her 6 months with Gertrude Opera she also had the privilege of performing solos in concerts all around Melbourne and regional Victoria. As well as participating in Master classes with esteemed musicians such as Noemi Nadelmann and Opera Australia conductor Brian Castles-Onion. While at the Royal College of Music Brigette took part in the annual opera scenes in the roles of Woodsprite 3 from Rusalka, in the original Czech, as well as Mercedes from Carmen.
Brigette is currently studying her Masters of Music at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and in the future hopes to undertake a PhD.
