Christopher Holman: was born in Scarborough – UK. He Graduated with honours from the National Musical Academy “Prof. Pancho Vladigerov” in Sofia, Bulgaria with a Masters Degree in Classical singing in the class of Associate Proffessor Ivanka Ninova and a separate Masters in Operatic stage directing in the class of Acad. Prof. Plamen Kartalov. His operatic début occurred while he was still studying at the academy with the role of Don Basillio from Rossini’s “The Barber of Sivilgia”. From then on he was a guest soloist at the National Opera House Sofia with such roles as Collas from Mozart’s “Bastien and Bastienne”, Cousin Brandon from Paul Hindermith’s “The long Christmas Dinner”, The Black cat in Ravel’s “The Bewitched Child” and others. Outside of his Commitments at the Sofia Opera House he has toured all of the other major Opera and concert Venues throughout Bulgaria, involved in both Operatic performances and various concerts. The Highlight of which was the World Stage Premier of Lyubomir Denev’s Opera “Cain” at the Ruse state Opera, The Bulgarian Premier of Jacques Offenbach’ “Pepito” and Georg Philipp Telemann’ “Don Quichotte”. He has also received esteem outside of Bulgaria for his performance of Mr. Gedge in Benjamin Britten’ “Albert Herring” in Thessaloniki, Greece (2014). Along with his performance experience, he has also directed several Operas Including Mozart’s “Bastien and Bastienne” in Vidin, Gaetano Donizetti’ “The Night Bell” and the Bulgarian Stage premier of Cesar Cui's "Little red Riding Hood" and "Puss in Boots", under the patronage of the Russian Embassy in Sofia. Christopher Holman has recently made his German debut in the role of the Marquis in Giuseppe Verdi's "La Traviata" after winning the main prize at the Kammeroper schools Rheinsberg Festival for young opera singers. He is currently working on research into Contemporary Bulgarian Vocal Chamber Music alongside his teaching, performance and directing engagements.
