Claudia recently graduated from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland with a MMus degree in Vocal Studies and will continue her training at the Alexander Gibson Opera School from September 2019, generously supported by the RCS Trust and under the tutelage of Wilma MacDougall. Prior to her studies in Glasgow, she graduated with a BA (Hons) in English Literature from Queen Mary University of London.
Principal operatic roles include the role of Savitri (cover) in Holst's Savitri (RCS Alexander Gibson Opera School), Despina in Mozart's Così fan tutte (Dulwich Opera Company), Musetta (cover) in Puccini's La Bohème (Dulwich Opera Company), Frasquita in Bizet's Carmen (Dulwich Opera Company), Poussette in Massenet's Manon (OperaCoast), Saffi in Strauss II's The Gipsy Baron (Southgate Opera) and Soprano 1 (cover) in Martin's Le vin herbé (RCS Alexander Gibson Opera School).
Scenes include: Alice in Verdi's Falstaff (RCS), Erste Dame in Mozart's Die Zauberflöte (RCS), Sophie in Strauss' Der Rosenkavalier (Associated Studios), Frasquita in Bizet's Carmen (Associated Studios), Zdenka in Strauss' Arabella (Associated Studios) and Laoula in Chabrier's L'étoile (AIMS).
Claudia recently sang in the chorus of Longborough Festival Opera's production of Der fliegende Holländer by Wagner (conducted by Anthony Negus and directed by Thomas Guthrie) and Scottish Opera's The Fiery Angel by Prokofiev (directed by Max Hoehn and conducted by Mikhail Agrest) at Glasgow City Halls. She has also sung in Dove's The Day After in an English National Opera collaboration with The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (directed by Jamie Manton and conducted by Philip White); Bellini's I Capuleti e i Montecchi with Chelsea Opera; Puccini's Tosca with Midsummer Opera and La Bohème with both Dulwich Opera Company and HeadFirst Productions; Offenbach's The Tales of Hoffmann and La Vie Parisienne; Gilbert & Sullivan's HMS Pinafore and Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin with Southgate Opera.
She has taken part in British Youth Opera's Summer Workshop with Will Kerley and Liz Rowe, and has sung in coachings and/or masterclasses with Kate Royal, Graeme Danby, Malcolm Martineau, Timothy Redmond, Christopher Underwood, Michael Lloyd, David Cowan, Rachel Nicholls and Nadine Secunde.
She held the John Ireland Choral Scholarship 2014-2015 at Sloane Square Choral Society, with whom she performed Dvořák's Mass in D, Haydn's Nelson Mass and Bach's Weihnachts-Oratorium and also performed with Les Sirènes Female Chamber Choir (winners of the 2012 BBC Choir of the Year Competition) in Glasgow.
Claudia received the Les Aldrich Music prize at the North London Music Festival 2015 for 'Most outstanding singer,' in addition to the gold medal in the competition's Operatic class and silver medal in the Lieder/Mélodie class.
In concert, Claudia performed as the soprano soloist in Ardingly International Music School's recital of Britten's Spring Symphony and has showcased at numerous events, including the Capel Manor Proms; An Evening of Light Opera and Song: Claudia Haussmann & Friends at Forty Hall Estate; Music on the Lawn at Forty Hall Estate and the Enfield Choral and Orchestral Festival.
Upcoming projects for Claudia include singing as part of the ensemble in Longborough Festival Opera's production of Anna Bolena by Donizetti.
