Corinne Cowling is currently studying for a Masters of Music in Vocal Performance at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London, UK, under the guidance of Professor Susan McCulloch. Since commencing her studies at Guildhall in September 2015, Corinne has been selected as a finalist for the Chartered Surveryors Prize, the English Song Prize and placed first in the Franz-Schubert-Institut Competition. Through this competition she received a full scholarship for the 2016 Franz-Schubert-Institut Master Course in Baden Bei Wien, Austria. Corinne recently made her Wigmore Hall debut with the Prince Consort and selected Guildhall students, performing Stephen Hough’s Other Love Songs. She was also selected to perform as part of the semi chorus for Elgar’s Dream of Gerontius under the baton of Sir Mark Elder at the Barbican Concert Hall with the London Symphony Orchestra.
Prior to her studies in London, Corinne graduated with a Bachelor of Music and Graduate Diploma in Classical Voice at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts where she studied with Patricia Price and Linda Barcan. Corinne also completed a Certificate II in Musical Theatre at WAAPA in 2008 and was a dancer with the Charlesworth Institute. In 2009 she studied in the Diploma of Dance program at the Koninklijk Conservatorium, Den Haag, The Netherlands, under the guidance of Christopher Powney and Wim Broeckx. Throughout her studies in Den Haag she performed throughout The Netherlands for the 2009 Holland Dance Festival.
Roles include Bubikopf in Viktor Ullmann’s The Emperor of Atlantis (Lost and Found Opera), Gretel in Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel (WAAPA), Angelica in Luigi Ricci’s La Serva e L’Ussero, Frasquita in Bizet’s Carmen (excerpts - Guildhall Opera Scenes) and Laetitia in Menotti’s The Old Maid and the Thief (excerpts – Guildhall Opera Scenes).
Awards include the Guildhall School of Music and Drama Award at the Finals of the 2014 IFAC Australian Singing Competition, The Rosaleen McFie Osborn Award, the Erika Burgell Legacy Award and the Sheila White Award. She is also generously supported by The Drake Calleja Trust, Ian Potter Cultural Trust, the Marten Bequest Travelling Scholarship and the Golden Key International Honour Society.
