Baritone David Corr is from Dublin and has developed a strong reputation, for performing Irish song, English song, Oratorio and Opera. David won the Irish Heritage Brackaville Bursary for Vocal Studies in 2021. David was a member of Northern Ireland’s Opera’s Studio (2019 – 2020) and performed widely in that role. In August 2020 David won the prestigious Deborah Voigt Opera Prize and the Voice of Northern Ireland 2020.
David is a scholar of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland where he is studying a Masters in Music Performance under the tutelage of Scott Johnson. He graduated with a BMus in performance from TUD Conservatory of Music and Drama in Dublin (formerly DIT). He studied under Emmanuel Lawler and Répéteur Aoife O’Sullivan. David was awarded the Conservatory's Gold Medal for his recital in 2018. He won the Frank Cowle Trophy and gold medal for Baritone Solo at the ESB Feis Ceoil in 2017 and the silver medal for the Count John McCormack recital in 2018.
In March 2020 he performed a recital as part of the Walled City Music Festival in Derry. David recently performed the role Regent Milock in Victor Herbert’s ‘The Enchantress’.. He has also performed with Northern Ireland Opera’s main stage productions for the past two years, Verdi's Rigoletto and Strauss's Die Fledermaus, directed by NI Opera Artistic Director Walter Sutcliffe. During the Summer of 2019, he toured Northern Ireland with the performance of a new opera for children 'The Chronic Identity Crisis of Pamplemousse' (Greg Caffrey). He also toured with Jacques Offenbach's Tulipatan.
His solo Oratorio performances have included the baritone solo role in Oratorio de Noël by Camille Saint-Saens and the bass solo in Handel's Messiah. In 2019 he was the bass soloist at the Belfast Philharmonic Society ‘Messiah' event with the Ulster Orchestra. David was bass soloist, in Haydn's Creation with the Wexford Festival Singers and Waterford Concert Orchestra in November 2019.
In 2019 David was selected by Irish National Opera to participate in the Young Artists Showcase.
