BMus
King's College, London
1998–2001

Born in London in 1980, Ed read music at King’s College, London, studying trumpet at the Royal Academy of Music with Iaan Wilson.

After graduating in 2001, Ed began working as a freelance musician with various orchestras and small ensembles, and in recording studios across the UK. He has also arranged and produced professionally for various artists, and provided voiceovers for Paramount and Channel 4 amongst others.

Having started singing aged 26 as a complete beginner Ed quickly began to develop a professional career, and is currently studying with Russell Smythe and Penny Jenkins.

In 2015 Ed joined the world-renowned Glyndebourne Chorus, performing in Donizetti's Poliuto and Bizet's Carmen, and in the Glyndebourne touring productions of Donizetti's Don Pasquale, Mozart's Die Entführung aus dem Serail and Handel's Saul. He has recently performed in Wagner's Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro, Rossini's Il Barbiére di Siviglia and Berlioz' Béatrice et Bénédict as part of the 2016 season.

As well as being much in demand as an oratorio soloist, Ed has performed the roles of Count Almaviva (The Marriage of Figaro) Long Tom (Merrie England), Sergeant Merrill (Yeomen of the Guard), Sid (Albert Herring), Polyphemus (Acis and Galatea) and Patriarch/Theodesius (Margaret of Antioch). He has also performed staged scenes in the roles of Father Trulove (The Rake’s Progress), Dr. Miracle (Les Contes d’Hoffman), Méphistophélès (Faust) and Leporello (Don Giovanni).
