Mura felici ... Elena ! Oh tu, che chiamo

The contralto, musicologist and pianist Ekaterina Romanova began her musical journey in her hometown of Voronezh, Russia, as well as in Rostov-on-Don and Moscow. Her deep interest for Baroque music, with a special emphasis on Handel, as well as on Rossini repertoire, led her to the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. After graduating in 2017 “magna cum laude”, she then entered the choir of the Flemish Opera where she’s been working up to now.
Ekaterina made numerous concerts in collaboration with her partner, pianist and composer Ivo Piscevic. They both work also as researchers discovering French and Russian Lied.
In 2022 Ekaterina was invited to perform Elgar's Sea Pictures with the Symphony Orchestra of the Flemish Opera, under the direction of Alejo Pérez.
In 2023, she got admitted in the Academia del Belcanto “Rodolfo Celletti”, where she could focus on studying Baroque and the Rossini repertoire under the guidance of renown teachers and mentors.

Ekaterina was honored to take part, amongst other students, in the 49th Festival della Valle d'Itria where she made her debut with the role of Zaida in Rossini's Il Turco In Italia, under the leadership of conductor Michele Spotti, as well as taking part in several concerts organised by the Festival.
