Emma Lewis is a mezzo soprano based in London, and performs opera, solo repertoire and as a choir and consort member. Emma completed a Masters in Vocal Performance with distinction at Trinity Laban Conservatoire in 2015, supported by the Robinson Hearn and Kathleen Roberts Scholarships. She was the recipient of the Mmus Prize and the TL Director's Prize for Vocal Excellence.
Roles performed include Mrs Herring in Albert Herring with Harrow Opera, Mrs Kneebone in A Dinner Engagement with Opera Dinamica, Daniel in Handel’s Belshazzar with Trinity Laban Opera, Mother in Hansel & Gretel and Third Lady in The Magic Flute with University of York Opera Society and Dido and Sorceress in Dido & Aeneas with Eboracum Baroque and St Martin’s Voices. Roles performed in scenes are Sélysette in Ariane et Barbe-Bleu, Hata in The Bartered Bride, La Conversation in Les Plaisirs des Versailles, Orphée in Orphée et Euridice, Sesto in La Clemenza di Tito, Meg in Falstaff, Emma has also sung chorus with Opera Holland Park, Hampstead Garden Opera, Armonico Consort and Echoris. Emma will be attending the Italian Opera Summer School in Bari, Puglia, in July 2016.
Solo performances include a recital programme of Mozart, Messiaen and Wagner as a Trinity Laban Gold Medal Finalist at Kings Place, Vivaldi Gloria and Rutter Gloria at Cathédrale de Coutances and Abbatiale de Lessay, Beethoven Scottish Songs at Oxford University Church, Handel Messiah, Bach Magnificat and Mozart Requiem at the Brandenburg Choral Festival, Bach B minor Mass and Rachmaninov Vespers and Stravinsky Mass with the Trinity Laban Chapel Choir at the Old Royal Naval College Chapel and Blackheath Halls, Lalande Te Deum and Charpentier Te Deum Edinburgh Festival, and Beethoven Mass in C with LSO Discovery (LSO St Luke's).
Emma is an alumna of Genesis Sixteen and sings with the Monteverdi Choir, having recently finished their apprenticeship scheme in 2015. Emma also freelances in professional church choirs throughout London and is a regular singer at St James, Sussex Gardens She is a member of the professional singers scheme with London Philharmonia Chorus.
