Welsh Soprano Ffion Edwards is currently studying at the Royal College of Music, London for a Master of Performance with Dinah Harris as a Janet & Michael Levesley Scholar. She is supported by the Countess of Munster Musical Trust, the Kathleen Trust and Cronfa Gwobr Goffa Ryan Davies.
Ffion studied her undergraduate degree with Suzanne Murphy at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama where she was awarded a first class degree for her Bachelor of Music with honours as well as an award for most promising singer. Ffion has been successful a number of times at the National Eisteddfod of Wales. Previously she has won first prize twice for the Soprano aged 19-25 competition and was runner up in the prestigious W. Towyn Roberts scholarship prize.
Ffion recently appeared as Clarice in Haydn’s ‘Il mondo della Luna’ as well as the 1st Trio Member in Bernstein’s ‘Trouble in Tahiti’ at the
RCM Opera Studio. She has also worked with the Welsh National Youth Opera singing in the chorus as well as playing small roles since 2012 in award winning productions such as ‘Kommilitonen!’ and ‘Paul Bunyan’.
Ffion was the winner of the Geraint Morris Memorial award in 2016 which gave her the opportunity to make her solo debut at the Royal Albert Hall in 2018 in the Festival of Massed Male Voice Choirs. Ffion has been a guest soloist on a number of occasions, she recently performed Goodall’s ‘Eternal light’ at Gloucester Cathedral and Handel’s ‘Messiah’ at Bristol Cathedral. She is also a regular soloist with welsh male voice choirs. Ffion had the privilege of performing for His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales at his home in Llwynywermod in 2018.
