Award-winning Scottish soprano Janet Fairlie trained, with a scholarship, at the Royal College of Music in London, was awarded the first prize in the National Mozart Competition, and has enjoyed solo concert performances at the Royal Albert Hall, Barbican Hall, London and Beethoven’s 9th Symphony in the Beethoven Halle in Bonn, Germany.
Janet has appeared with The English Bach Festival at the Royal Opera House - Covent Garden, understudied at English National Opera and Garsington Opera, and performed with Glyndebourne Festival Opera. She has performed many of the major oratorio works and lyric soprano roles including PAMINA Magic Flute, DONNA ELVIRA Don Giovanni, DONNA ANNA Don Giovanni, LEILA Pearl Fishers, MIMI La Boheme, FIORDILIGI Così fan tutte, NEDDA Pagliacci, COUNTESS Marriage of Figaro at the Covent Garden Festival, JOSEPHINE HMS Pinafore for Buxton Gilbert & Sullivan Festival, and TATYANA Eugene Onegin for Opera Interludes in Russia. She made her West End debut singing the role of ELSIE MAYNARD The Yeomen of the Guard, for The D’Oyly Carte Opera Company at the Savoy Theatre.
Janet also spent two years in The Sound of Music at the London Palladium as cover Sister Sophia (with 93 scheduled performances).
