Javier Vilarino is a graduate of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music’s Opera School and his performance experience encompasses opera, musical theatre, concerts and cabarets.
During his operatic study Javier performed roles that include; Nardo (La Finta Giardiniera), Sid (Albert Herring), Enrico (Il Campanello), Gaudenzio (Il Signor Bruschino) and Orphée (Les Malheurs d’Orphée). As a Helpmann scholarship recipient Javier traveled to Barcelona to work with acclaimed accompanist Professor Darlton Baldwin.
As a member of the extra chorus of Opera Australia, Javier performed in “Cosi Fan Tutte” and “Carmen”. Other engagements include; Figaro (The Marriage of Figaro) with Pacific Opera, Silvio (Pagliacci), Bobby (Mahagonny Song-spiel) with Opera Carnavalé and Don Alfonso (Cosi Fan Tutte), Cascada (Merry Widow), Wreck (Wonderful Town) and Matin/ Governor of Buenos Aires (Candied) with Newcastle Festival Opera.
This year Javier was a guest soloist with the Willoughby Symphony Orchestra in Vaughn- Williams’ “Five Mystical Songs” and the Newcastle University Choir in Orff’s “Carmina Burana” and the Macquarie University Singers in Schubert’s “Mass in G”. Javier iscurrently performing on Princess Cruises in “Bravo” an evening of operatic and musical highlights.
