Covered Covered & Performed Scenes Premiere of New Work Concert
Portuguese soprano Joana Fragata started her musical studies in Lisbon under the guidance of Elsa Saque, Liliana Bizineche and Silvia Mateus. In London she continued her studies with Yvonne Minton and Paul Farrington.
Operatic roles include, among others, Erste Dame in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, Sandrina in Mozart’s La Finta Giardiniera, Donna Anna in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Countess in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro and Virtù in Monteverdi’s L'incoronazione di Poppea. With Morley Opera, Joana has also recently performed scenes from Verdi’s Aïda (Aïda), Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice (Euridice) and Handel’s Orlando (Dorinda).
Joana has appeared as a soloist in Portugal (including in Teatro Nacional de São Carlos - II Encontro Nacional de Estúdios de Ópera, Sao Luiz Teatro Municipal, Festival de Musica do Estoril and Festival de Música do Paço) and the United Kingdom (including in recitals at Morley College and at the National Opera Studio (short courses)) performing a wide range of operatic, song and oratorio repertoire. As member of the Brussels Chamber Choir and the City of London Choir, she had the opportunity to perform in major concert venues in Brussels and in London. Joana has participated in masterclasses led by, among others, Della Jones, Elaine Kidd, David Sulkin, Sarah Walker and Graham Johnson.
