He appeared as Scaramuccio in Richard Strauss’ “Ariadne auf Naxos” with Festival Opera in Walnut Creek California. Festival Opera also featured him in their Marriott’s Opera in the Park concert with a special Father’s Day program where he presented Eleazar’s aria from “La Juive” and a charming Paul Simon song called “Father and Daughter.” Past appearances with Festival Opera in Frank Loesser’s “The Most Happy Fella” as Ciccio.

Previous appearances with West Edge Opera (formerly Berkeley Opera) include the 2008 production of Tosca in the role of Spoletta.

As a baroque music performer, Jose performed the lead role of Adamo in Scarlatti’s “Cain – il primo omicidio” conducted by early music specialist Christine Brandes. San Francisco State University celebrated the collection of original scores in the deBellis Collection with a concert that featured professional alumni artists. The deBellis Collection holds the only manuscript source for this work.

He also received the first place prize at the National Association for Teachers of Singing Southern Region competition.
