Kathryn Hannah grew up in Kent and graduated with BA(Hons) in Fine Art from Newcastle University
and Diploma in Opera Performance Birkbeck College (University of London).
Recent engagements include Annina (La Traviata), Elgar’s Sea Pictures Song Cycle. Mezzo soloist
for The Merry Opera Company’s new staged production tour of Verdi’s Requiem and Madame
Larina for Opera Up Close Eugene Onegin at the Arcola Theatre with Robin Norton Hale’s new
translation. Future engagements include Elisabetta (Maria Stuarda) in Pavilion Opera’s next season.
Kathryn has toured in the title role in Carmen with Lakeland Opera; Rosina (Il Barbiere di
Siviglia) with New Devon Opera and Pavilion Opera, Prince Orlofsky (Die Fledermaus) with Kentish
Opera and Pavilion Opera; Maddalena and Giovanna
(Rigoletto) Alisa (Lucia di Lammermoor) Dama (Macbeth)
and Anna (Maria Stuarda) for a tour of Northern and Scottish
Other roles include: Giannetta (L’Elisir D’Amore),Laura
(Luisa Miller) Suor Osmina (Suor Angelica) all with Opera
Cherubino with Lyric Hammersmith; Second Boy with
Kentish Opera; Second Lady with WEOS; Barbarina with
Stanley Hall Opera and Kate Pinkerton and High Priestess
with Sevenoaks Opera.
For Scottish Opera, Kathryn covered a number of small roles:
Countess Ceprano and Paggio [performed] (Rigoletto), 2nd Donna Bridesmaid (Le Nozze di Figaro)
and Resi (Intermezzo) and Aunt in 'Jenůfa' for Scottish Opera.
She has also covered the role of Carmen with Co-Opera. Co and Elisabetta (Maria Stuarda) for
Kathryn is also a keen freelance chorister for National and Regional Festival Companies.
As part of an opera chorus she has also performed: L’Elisir D’Amore, La Traviata, Madama Butterfly,
Lucia Di Lammermoor, Der Rosenkavalier, La Boheme, Le Nozze di Figaro, Der Fliegende Holländer,
Turandot (concert), Jenůfa,Carmen, Ariodante, (Scottish Opera), Peter Grimes (English National
Opera), Queen of Spades, Faust, Peter Grimes (Opera North), Carmen (Longborough Festival
Opera), Fidelio, Tosca, L’Arlesiana, Le Nozze di Figaro, L'Elisir D'Amore, Luisa Miller, Madama
Butterfly, Pearl Fishers, Aida, Lakmé, L'Amore dei Tre Re (Opera Holland Park). Performed and
recorded with Opera Rara Chorus for Semiramide BBC Prom.
Kathryn has performed numerous opera galas, cruises, concerts, and charity events both in the UK and
abroad, frequent church solo work, as well as mezzo soloist for Mozart’s Requiem with Bahrain
Sinfonia & Manama Singers in Bahrain and The Marches Choir. Other Oratorio performances include
Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle, Elgar's Light of Life and Verdi’s Requiem
She is also a frequent mezzo soloist for Opera D’Amici engagements.
