Kerry Firth is a light lyric soprano based in Manchester. She studies singing with Andrew Heggie at The University of Manchester, where she also obtained her BMus with first-class honours, her MusM with distinction, and her PhD. Kerry has a long-standing passion for singing, reflected in her repertoire which spans Classical, Opera, Folk, and Jazz. This has led her to perform with a host of musical ensembles of varied style and experience. She has performed solos in pieces such as Mozart’s Requiem, Tippett’s A Child of Our Time, Faure’s requiem, and Haydn’s Nelson Mass. Kerry has. also sang the role of Belinda in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, Damon in Handel’s Acis and Galatea, the countess in Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro, Zerlina in Don Giovanni, and Madeleine in Charpontier’s Louise. In addition, she has performed in masterclasses for Dame Felicity Lott, Catherine Wyn-Rogers, and Adrian Thompson. Kerry features regularly as a soloist in opera gala concerts in and around Manchester. Recently she created three roles in operatic compositions as part of Manchester Contemporary Youth Opera and, along with a group of Manchester-based singers and instrumentalists, is in the process of creating a new accessible opera company.
