Lachlann Lawton is a Western Australian baritone who started his singing career in musicals and in school choirs at a young age.
He is currently in his first year of a two year music masters at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, England. He is supported by the Waverley fund and is studying with esteemed baritone Quentin Hayes. At the RNCM Lachlann has been involved in scenes from Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro, He was cast as Escamillo In the RNCM’s concert performance of Carmen and Performed the role of Peter in the RNCM’s new production of Hansel and Gretel directed by Stephen Medcalf.
In June 2017 Lachlann will perform the role of Escamillo in The Opera Shack’s new production of Carmen.
Lachlann completed a Bachelor of Music in Classical Performance and a Graduate Diploma of Music at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) under the teaching of both Patricia Price and Michael Lewis. Whilst at WAAPA, he performed the roles of Giorgio (La serva e l’ussero), Professor Bhear (Little Women), Peter (Hansel and Gretel), Demetrius (A Midsummer Night’s Dream), and Sid (Albert Herring).
In 2017, Lachlann was a member of the Western Australian Opera chorus, and also performed the role of Schaunard (La boheme) with Freeze Frame Opera, which he will reprise in December 2018.
Lachlann is also a fitness enthusiast and will be commencing a course in 2018 to gain a certificate in personal training so he can help other opera singers stay fit, and avoid tension with specific workouts designed by himself.
