Luciana Tavares achieved significant success in 2003, when she won two top prizes, including the first prize and the best interpreter of Carlos Gomes in the Maria Callas Competition, in São Paulo. In the same year she made her opera debut as Mimì in Puccini’s La Bohème, performing the role in many Brazilian cities with the "Rio Amazonas Opera Company".
In 2005 she was awarded First Prize in “Aldo Baldin” Competition in Brazil, performing Pamina in Mozart´s Die Zauberflöte, and in 2007 she won 3rdPlace in I Helena Cardoso Coelho International Competition in Brazil. She sang in X Amazonas Opera Festival as Delia in Fosca by Carlos Gomes and II International Opera Festival of the Amazon – Belem as well. Her most recent appearance was in The marriage of Figaro performing the Countess.
Previous roles include Micaëla in Carmen, Liù in Turandot, Hanna in The Merry Widow, Dido in Dido and Aeneas, Dew Fairy in Hänsel und Gretel, Serafina in Il Campanello di Notte, and Maria in Aquiry by Mario Lima Brasil.
Miss Tavares has been a soloist in many chamber and sacred works, including Mozart´s Messa di Credo, Coronation Mass KV 317 and Exsultate Jubilate KV 165, Buxtehude’s Membra Jesu Nostri, Alles, Was ihr tutt, Handel´s Messiah, Vaugham William’s Serenade to Music, Bruckner’s Magnificat, Vivaldi´s Gloria and Dixit RV 594, Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, Brahms´ Ein Deutches Requiem, Fauré´s Requiem op. 48, Mendelssohn´s Magnificat, Schumann´s Frauenliebe und Leben, Orff´s Catulli Carmina, Saint Saëns´ Oratorio
de Noël and A. Vieira´s Christmas Cantata.
Miss Tavares recorded an album of Baroque music with the Brazilian group “Estudio Barroco”, also she recorded an album called "A Brisa e a Rosa" with André Vidal´s compositions.
In Brazil she studied voice with the baritone Francisco Frias and in US with Jo Ella Todd.
