Covered Covered & Performed Scenes Premiere of New Work Concert COVID-cancelled
Meredith Cardew is a Mezzo-soprano from Wiltshire, currently training at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.
Meredith is currently preparing the role of Miss Forcible for an internal viewing of Mark-Anthony Turnage's 'Coraline' at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire (originally intended for public performance that has unfortunately had to be cancelled due to COVID-19). She has found the process of preparing the role to be very valuable and is grateful for the experience in these challenging times.
In the past Meredith has been involved in various productions at the Conservatoire, including:
Scenes from ‘Cenerentola’ by Rossini (conducted by Harry Sever, directed by Jamie Hayes) where she performed as Tisbe, one of Cenerentola’s step-sisters and scenes from ‘Eugene Onegin’ by Tchaikovsky (sung in English- conducted by Anthony Kraus, directed by Daisy Evans). Meredith was also a chorus member for Royal Birmingham Conservatoire’s production of ‘Enchanted Island’ by Jeremy Sams (conducted by Paul Wingfield, directed by Jamie Hayes) and ‘Magic flute’ (conducted by Christopher Bucknall, directed by Michael Barry).
During the last few years, Meredith has taken part in Fundraising concerts in her hometown, Salisbury. These have been for various causes; in 2017 Meredith was involved in a fundraiser concert for the Salisbury Hospice which took place in The Medieval Hall, a historic building in the Salisbury Cathedral close. Meredith was also a part of two fundraising concerts to help raise money for essential building work for St Andrew’s Church, Newton Tony, and St Nicholas’ Church, Cholderton.
Meredith has been studying under Yvonne Sandison during her past four years at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. Prior to this, she studied under James Ottaway and Philip Lawson.
