Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance
2014–2016

Now based in London, Naomi is originally from the East Midlands where she initially trained as an oboist being awarded a scholarship for lessons with the Nottingham Music School, representing the county of Nottinghamshire at the Edinburgh Festival and playing in the youth orchestras and ensembles in the region. It wasn't until she left school that she found her voice joining the Nottingham Harmonic Society and Nottingham Cathedral Choir under the direction of Neil Page.

From these inauspicious beginnings a true passion emerged and it soon became clear that this is where her musical heart lies. Since then Naomi has performed with numerous ensembles as a choral singer, soloist, recitalist, chorus member and principal. She now studies under the acclaimed operatic soprano Teresa Cahill and is coached by Robert Bottriell at Trinity Laban Conservatoire where she finishes the MMus course in September 2016. During her time at Trinity Naomi has received much praise for her performances in the post-graduate opera scenes and in masterclasses she has participated in, in particular as Donna Anna in Don Giovanni in Dec 2015. Her voice was recently described as a "most important voice" by Ulbado Fabbri and by others as a possessing a secure and beautiful sound.

This summer saw Naomi take the role of Nelly Kirwin in a brand new work by Stephen McNeff, commisioned by Trinity for their summer opera project: Banished. An opera based on the play by Steve Gooch, Female Transport, about the first transportation of female prisoners to Australia. Each of the characters were based on actual prisoners transported in the late 18th century on the first transports to Australia and each had their own story. The opera was very well received and is likely to become a standard in colleges with it's strong core of female characters.

In September Naomi takes the role of Mae in another new work, Favella, this time by promising new composer Louise Kulbicki, a post-graduate student at Trinity Laban. The story is set in a Brazilian Favela and focuses on the police brutality prevalent there. Mae is the mother of a young man framed for drug dealing by the police.

Other recent performances include Madre/Chorus, Madama Butterfly with the East-West Arts Initiative at Cadogan Hall; Karternaufschlägerin, Arabella; Ancella/chorus, Simon Boccanegra both with Fulham Opera for which director, Fiona Williams, described Naomi as "amazing, reliable, open and on it; always willing to give it a go"; The Nelson Mass with West Sussex Philharmonic Choir; and Mère Marie in Dialogues des Carmelites in Trinity's Spring scenes in which MDs Rob Bottriell and Kelvin Lim noted the understanding of the "poise and type of movement the character would naturally assume"
