Covered Covered & Performed Scenes Premiere of New Work Concert
Patricia Auchterlonie is a Canadian soprano currently completing her master's degree at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama where she studies with Sarah Pring. During her time at Guildhall, Patricia has performed in a wide range of concerts, including Schubert song for a lecture series at the Wigmore Hall, Russian song in the Barbican Hall, and alongside the Ubu Ensemble in the Courtauld Gallery.
Before coming to London, Patricia studied at the University of Toronto where she obtained a BMus (honours.) During her time as an undergraduate, she sang early music in the Schola Cantorum as well as in the university’s new music ensemble, GamUT. She also worked regularly with young composers, premiering multiple compositions. At this time, Patricia also studied art history and musicology, both topics which still inform her work as a musician. She supplemented her studies by participating in Songfest at the Colburn School in 2011 and 2014 where she sang for Margo Garret, Lisa Saffer and Martin Katz.
Miss Auchterlonie is passionate about the performance of new and unheard music. Recent work has included performances of Schoenberg's Pierrot Lunaire, Ravel's Mallarmé songs, Kurt Schwitters' Ursonate and Hans Eisler's Palmström. Upcoming engagements include An Assembly, a concert of 6 new works at City University which will be broadcast on BBC Radio 3 as well as a premiere of a new work by Ben Smith in the Wigmore Hall. She will be a performer and deputy artistic director in two concert series with Borough New Music in November and February of 2017. She can also be seen as a recitalist in various venues across the UK such as St. John's Waterloo, St. John's Smith Square and the Royal Scottish Overseas League.
Other concert work has included Bach's Magnificat in D, Purcell song with Schola Cantorum and recitals with Song in the City. Operatic roles performed include Dido in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, Giannetta in Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore, First Lady in Mozart’s The Magic Flute, and the role of Professor Moran in Brian Hosefros and Leo Doulton’s new work The Kairos Beast with the Guildhall Operamakers.
