"... The arrival of Przemyslaw Baranek as Scarpia helped to focus the sound and his steely tone, so appropriate for the merciless strategy he adopts to recapture the prisoner and to rape Tosca, was both musically and dramatically thrilling..." , "... the confrontation between Tosca and Scarpia was simply superb... Przemysław Baranek was born in Bydgoszcz, Poland, where he gained his initial stage experience and obtained his Master's Degree in vocal performance. After graduation, he continued his studies in Milan with Carlo Gaifa, Gianni Maffeo and Anatoli Goussev. He also worked with the Giuseppe Verdi Symphonic Chorus of Milan and the chorus of the Accademia Teatro alla Scala with whom he performed across Italy and Europe. His roles include Aeneas (Dido and Aeneas), Dulcamara (L’elisird’amore), Leporello (Don Giovanni), Guglielmo and Don Alfonso (Cosi fan tutte).

His UK debut came with the role of Streshnev in Mussorgsky's KHOVANSKYGATE: A National Enquiry (Birmingham Opera Company) directed by Graham Vick, named Best New Production at the International Opera Awards 2015. Since then, Przemysław has continued to work with the Birmingham Opera Company ("The Ice Break", "Dido and Aeneas", "Coro di morti"), as well as creating roles in James Oldham’s compositions including "The Remarkable Rocket" and "'i' – the opera" at the Tête à Tête Festival. He has also sung with The Grange Park Opera chorus having a step out role and covering roles of Starek in Jenufa and Cesare Angelotti in Tosca. Most recently he sang the role of Scarpia in a new English production of Tosca in the King’s Head Theatre in London, set in the 1940s occupied Paris.

Przemysław is also involved in the promotion of Polish culture by organising and singing concerts for combatants of the Second World War, Polish expats and institutions of other minorities in London.
