Przemysław Baranek was born in Bydgoszcz, Poland and studied at the Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music obtaining his Master's Degree in vocal performance. He was the winner of a Grand Prix in the 1st European Festival of Operetta and Musical Duets “Face to Face”, and he received 1st Prize in the 5th Polish Nationwide Vocal Contest “Złote głosy Mazowsza“.
He continued his studies in Milan with Carlo Gaifa, Gianni Maffeo and Anatoli Goussev. He also worked with the Giuseppe Verdi Symphonic Chorus of Milan and the chorus of the Accademia del Teatro alla Scala with whom he performed across Italy and Europe.
His UK debut came with the role of Streshnev in Mussorgsky's KHOVANSKYGATE: A National Enquiry (Birmingham Opera Company) directed by Graham Vick, named the Best New Production at the International Opera Awards 2015. Since then, Przemysław has continued to work with the Birmingham Opera Company ("The Ice Break", "Dido and Aeneas", "Coro di morti", “Wake”), as well as creating roles in James Oldham’s compositions including "The Remarkable Rocket" and "'i' – the opera" at the Tête à Tête Festival.
Przemysław has also sung with The Grange Park Opera chorus having a step out role and covering roles of Starek in "Jenufa" and Cesare Angelotti in "Tosca" as well as singing the role of Paris in 2018 production of "Romeo et Juliette" by Charles Gounod conducted by Stephen Barlow and directed by Peter Mason.
His roles include: Renato ("The Masked ball"), Paris ("Romeo et Juliette"), Scarpia and Angelotti ("Tosca"), Father ("Hansel and Gretel"), Jakub ("Flis"), Starek ("Jenufa"), Leporello ("Don Giovanni"), Don Alfonso and Guglielmo ("Cosi fan tutte"), Aeneas ("Dido and Aeneas"), Dulcamara ("L’elisir d’amore"), Remarkable Rocket ("The Remarkable Rocket").
His upcoming engagements include Barone Douphol in "La Traviata" for Al Bustan Festival, Don Alfonso in "Cosi fan tutte" for Bloomsbury Opera and cover of the Rodrigo Posa in "Don Carlo" for the Grange Park Opera Festival.
Przemysław is also involved in the promotion of Polish culture by organising and singing concerts for combatants of the Second World War, Polish expats and institutions of other minorities in London.
