Ross Wilson (tenor) began his musical tuition under the guidance of Maureen Rutherford later studying with Caroline Dickov at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music Junior Academy. He completed his undergraduate study at Edinburgh Napier University, under the tuition of Andrew Doig, receiving a Bachelor of Music (honours) first class degree. He has performed solo in many works, notably Bach Magnificat and Rossini Petite Messe Solennelle in the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. He has participated in Oxenfoord Summer School for singers and in masterclasses with Dame Ann Murray, John Mark Ainsley, Patricia MacMahon and Claire Debono. Operatically he has performed the role of ‘Aeneas’ in Purcell Dido & Aeneas, ‘Bastien’ in Mozart Bastien and Bastienna and originated the role of ‘Wilfred’ in a new opera Spite by composer Stuart Murray Mitchell. Ross has been a choral scholar for the choir of St Andrews and St Georges, Edinburgh and participated in MINIGIG, a new project in Malta with Maltese vocal coach Rosetta Debattista and director Denise Mulholland. Ross has recently studied with Gillian Zammit in Malta, Scot Weir in Berlin, Iain Paton in Glasgow and is now under the tutelage of Adrian Thompson. Recent involvements include the Britten operatic double bill Into the Ark and Down the Chimney. Presently Ross resides in Cardiff and is working towards his Masters Degree in performance at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.
