Serena Perez is currently in her second year with the Dutch National Opera Academy. She did her Bachelor studies at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, by Sasja Hunnego and Jan Paul Grijpink, completing it with cum laude Distinction.
With the Dutch National Opera Academy Serena performed the role of Carmen in Bizet’s Carmen at the 2018 Bredeweg Festival. She has also performed the roles of Bianca in Britten’s The Rape of Lucretia, Despina in Mozart’s Così fan Tutte and she will soon perform the role of Radamisto in Handel’s Radamisto.
Previous roles also include La Speranza in Monteverdi’s Orfeo, La Badessa in Puccini’s Suor Angelica, 2nd Witch in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas and Acis in the Baroque Zarzuela Acis and Galatea by Literes.
On the concert platform, Serena has performed in diverse repertoire across the Netherlands, Spain, Portugal and France. Her extensive concert repertoire includes Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, Bach’s Matthew Passion, Mozart’s Requiem, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 and Saints-Saëns’ Weinachtsoratorium.
Serena has performed in masterclasses with Margreet Honig, Ira Siff, Johanette Zomer, Floris Visser, Pietro Spagnoli and Paula Murrihy amongst others. She also enjoys working on lieder repertoire with pianist Raquel Garzas. Serena was the Third Prize winner in the 2018 Luis Mariano International Singing Contest.
