"Other outstanding performances included soprano Susanna MacRae, who played a delightfully flirtatious Manon from Massenet's "Gavotte", hitting the top notes like a songbird filled with the joys of life." - Richard Davies, Essential Surrey (2017)
"Susanna MacRae as Mabel has a thrilling voice with top notes that reminded me of "The Lark Ascending", so high and beautiful are they. A petite and pretty Mabel, who has grace, command and so much else in her slim frame, Susanna is clearly destined for a great career in music and theatre." - Jon Fox, NODA (2016)
"Susanna MacRae, who in her devotion and sweetness of voice caught perfectly the style of this much-celebrated music. One could not help feeling that Mendelssohn could have been composing with her in mind." "For the Vaughan-Williams Benedicite Miss MacRae stepped forward to deliver the contrasting solos of personal devotion with a most pleasing attention to the intimacy of the dynamic range and a tender and expressive sense which never faltered." - Mike Sproule (2016)
"Susanna's stylish interpretation of 'Deh Vieni non Tardar' from Le Nozze di Figaro was presented with poise and control and demonstrated clarity of tone, clearly articulated rhythmic precision and vivid characterisation so well suited to the Mozartian style." - Helen Grand, Guernsey Press (2016)
Susanna MacRae (Soprano) graduated from the Royal College of Music, London, where she studied with Jeffrey Stewart (Vocal Studies) and Nigel Clayton (Piano). Currently, she continues her studies in London with Sheila Barnes and Jeremy Silver.
On the operatic stage Susanna has recently completed a successful tour of Italy and Spain performing Galatea (Acis & Galatea) with Ad Parnassum. In October she performed Gianetta in L’elisir d’amore for Arcadian Opera. Other roles include Mabel in The Pirates of Penzance (Gilbert & Sullivan) at The Harlequin Theatre, Giulietta (I Capuleti e I Montecchi) for Microscopera and many different G & S roles for companies in London and the South. Solo highlights include appearing as soprano soloist for numerous choral societies across south-west England, most recently including Mozart Coronation Mass (Mosaic Chamber Choir) and Mendelssohn’s ‘Hear my prayer’ (Fleet Choral Society). In addition Susanna regularly appears on the recital platform around London and the South, collaborating with Guy Murgatroyd.
Initially trained as a pianist, Susanna made her concerto debut playing Beethoven's Third Piano Concerto with Guernsey Sinfonietta in August 2013.
