​B i o g r a p h y
Scottish soprano Lucy Anderson is currently studying for a Master of Performance at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama under the tutelage of Janice Chapman. She also holds a BMus(Hons) in Vocal Performance from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, having studied with Kathleen McKellar Ferguson and Patricia MacMahon. Lucy 's studies are currently being generously supported by the Guildhall School Trust, the Robertson Scholarship Trust, the Sir James Caird Travelling Scholarships Trust, the Kathleen Trust and the Seary Charitable Trust. Lucy has also been awarded awarded the Mary D Adams Scholarship, the Norma Greig French Song Prize and in 2015 Lucy progressed to the semi-final of the National Mozart Singing Competition. Lucy has participated in masterclasses with Dame Felicity Palmer, Graham Johnson, Edith Wiens, Malcolm Martineau, Amanda Roocroft and David Gowland.​

In opera, Lucy has spent summer 2015 as part of the Opera Holland Park Chorus, appearing in productions of Lakmé, Aida and L'amore dei tre Re. Principal roles include Fiordiligi, Così fan tutte (Guildhall School Opera Scenes); Mrs Nolan, The Medium (Operaview, Grimeborn Festival 2014); First Lady, The Magic Flute (Opera Camerata); La Sorcière, Si l'enfant ne dort pas bien… (Dreamland Theatre, Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2013); Susanna, The Marriage of Figaro (Royal Conservatoire Opera Scenes) and Countess Almaviva, The Marriage of Figaro (Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2012). Further chorus appearances include Betrothal in a Monastery (Scottish Opera/RCS), The Cunning Little Vixen (Scottish Opera/RCS), War and Peace (Scottish Opera/RCS) and The Magic Flute (RCS).

Solo concert work includes Handel Messiah (Berwick Arts Choir, Kingston 3rd Age Orchestra, Harmonie Choir), Poulenc Gloria (Edinburgh Bach Choir, Scottish Sinfonia) and Duruflé Requiem (Edinburgh Bach Choir, Scottish Sinfonia). Lucy has also performed as a soloist with the Orchestra of Scottish Opera as part of the Children’s Classics Christmas concert series. Lucy has been involved in ensemble singing from a young age and sings with the Les Sirènes Female Chamber Choir, winners of the 2012 Choir of the Year competition. Lucy was a soloist in the choir's winning performance at the Royal Festival Hall, London, which was broadcast on BBC television and radio.

Future engagements include a performance of Like Miss Jean Brodie, a new piece by composer Hans Hoeglund at the Wigmore Hall, a recording of new music with contemporary ensemble Scottish Voices and a concert of Tchaikovsky music presented by the BBC Symphony Orchestra in 2016.
