British soprano Rosie Rowell, praised for her ‘elegant and powerful’ voice, graduated with Distinction from the opera course at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Her recent engagements have included the title role in Miss Havisham's Wedding Night at the 2023 Edinburgh Fringe Festival, soprano chorus in Gods of the Game, a new opera commissioned and televised by Sky Arts in celebration of the 2022 world cup, and Dr A in Harvey Brough's The Hive.

Rosie made her Welsh National Opera debut in 2019 as Sister Rose (Dead Man Walking), conducted by Karen Kamensek. She returned to cover the Chief Hen and Jay in Sir David Pountney’s renowned production of The Cunning Little Vixen. In 2021, she made her Grange Park Opera debut as Stepanida Matuta (Ivan the Terrible), also directed by Sir David Pountney. She also sang in the chorus for La Bohème, The Life & Death of Alexander Litvinenko and Falstaff. Other roles have included Fiordiligi (Cosi fan tutte), Miss Wordsworth (Albert Herring) and Casilda (The Gondoliers) at RWCMD and Atalanta (Xerxes) with Hampstead Garden Opera, conducted by Richard Hetherington.

Rosie was born in London and graduated with a degree in English Literature from Durham University, during which time she was a Samling Academy scholar. She later joined the David Seligman Opera School at RWCMD, during which time she was the 2019 winner of the inaugural Adelina Patti Prize, 2018 winner of the Elias Singing Prize for Soprano and was the grateful recipient of the Swinburn scholarship, Jenkins Phillips scholarship and Leverhulme Trust scholarship. Her studies were further supported by a Help Musicians UK Sybil Tutton Opera Award, the Sir Richard Stapley Educational Trust, the Sir James Caird Travelling Scholarships Fund and The South Square Trust.
