Granada - World Cruise 2016 - Luperci de Souza
Luperci de Souza, Brazilian tenor, began his musical training with the Canarinhos de Petrópolis boy’s choir in Brazil. He then studied in the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and in the University of Salta, Argentina prior going to Scotland where he completed a Masters degree in Opera at the Alexander Gibson Opera School at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland studying under the tuition of Stephen Robertson, supported by an ABRSM international scholarship. Operatic roles include, Nemorino (L’elisir d’amore), Tamino (Die Zauberflöte), Fenton (Die Lustigen Weiber) , Telemaco (Il Ritorno d'Ulisse in Patria), Tito (La Clemenza di Tito) , Prunier (La Rondine), Testo (Il Combattimento di Tancredi e Clorinda), Italian Tenor (Der Rosenkavalier), Young Gypsy (Aleko). Opera scenes performances include Ferrando (Così fan Tutte), Count Almaviva (Il Barbieri di Siviglia), Fenton (Falstaff), Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni), Macheath (The Beggar's Opera), Rinuccio (Gianni Schicchi), Rodolfo (La Bohème). Masterclasses include Sir Thomas Allen, John Treleaven, Ileana Cotrubas, Neyde Thomas, Rio Novello, Lisa Milne and Mitsuko Shirai. Concert work includes Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, Britten's Les Illuminations, Haydn’s The Creation, Orff’s Carmina Burana, Bach’s Magnificat, Handel’s Messiah, Schubert’s Mass in G, Mozart’s Requiem, Mendelssohn’s Lobgesang, Dubois’s Les sept paroles du Christ, Saint-Saëns’s Christmas Oratorio and the international premiere of "Cancōes de amor" by Nelson Macedo.
He has been invited many times to sing on the luxurious cruise line “Silversea” and have sung to many celebrities such as: Ennio Morricone and former presidents of Brazil, Queen Elizabeth II and Pope John II in the Vatican in Rome. In 2017, he will release his first solo CD with the soprano Ashley Slater, inspired by the works of Mario Lanza and Kathryn Grayson.
