Charlotte Whittle is a jugendlich dramatic soprano from The Kingdom of Fife, Scotland, currently living in Cardiff, Wales. In June 2023 Charlotte sang excerpts in the role of Senta (Der fliegende Holländer) under the direction of Thomas Barthel (Zürich Opera House). In St Andrews, Scotland, Charlotte was invited by the Heisenberg Ensemble to perform as Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni) and Elettra (Idomeneo) under the baton of Maestra Gillian Craig. At the Edinburgh International Festival with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra under the direction of Maestro HK Gruber, Charlotte performed in Kurt Weill’s The Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny. At the St Andrews Byre Theatre Charlotte sang alongside fellow Scot, Hollywood actor Alan Cumming, to raise funds for the Neurosurgery Department at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee. A graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland where she collaborated with Scottish Opera (The Cunning Little Vixen and War and Peace), Charlotte now studies with voice teacher and international dramatic soprano Vera Wenkert in Zürich, Switzerland, founder of the Internationale Institut Stimmkunst. Alongside Ms. Wenkert, Charlotte also worked with the late Ann Beckman (former head of the Zürich Opera House music department, former solo accompanist at Salzburg Festival and former guest coach in major opera houses including La Scala, Hamburg State Opera and the Bolshoi Theatre) on the roles of Leonora (Il Trovatore) and Elisabeth (Tannhäuser). Charlotte is a regular recitalist in the UK and has enjoyed performing in Bristol Cathedral, St Giles Cathedral Edinburgh and Stirling Castle to name but a few. She looks forward to giving a recital in St Stephens Church, Bristol and Bath Abbey later this year with pianist Sian Davies (Cardiff Opera and Welsh National Opera).
