The Canadian Vocal Arts Institute is an intensive summer program offering high caliber training and exceptional performance opportunities to emerging professional opera singers from around the world, as well as collaborative pianists, conductors and stage directors.

The 21st edition, held in Montreal, Canada will offer:

  • Semi-staged Opera Production of Mozart’s “Die Zauberflöte” with Orchestre de la Francophonie
  • “The Audition”: Broadcast event showcasing each singer in aria performance with symphony orchestra
  • Numerous opera galas with piano and/or instrumental ensembles
  • Private voice lessons and coachings with outstanding world-class faculty
  • Public masterclasses
  • Professional audio and video recordings of performances to use for your portfolio
  • Professional headshots session and individual career management guidance
  • Workshops on performance anxiety, acting, speech therapy, social media and community outreach.

    APPLICATION INFORMATION
    There is no application fee or age limit to apply.

    Audition requirements:
    Singers: 2 contrasting opera arias in different languages and styles
    Pianists, conductors and stage directors: 2 reference letters & 2 videos

    Scholarship & stipend: All accepted participants will have their tuition fees (Can$2500) covered by scholarship and will receive a Can$1000 stipend before December 31, 2025.

    Confirmation fee: A non-refundable confirmation fee of Can$300 will be required for all participants to prevent last-minute cancellations and cover any recruitment inconveniences that may follow.

    Accomodation, transportation and meals are the responsability of the participants. However, our team is working on partnerships with potential host families for international students.
