As Berenice, Aimée Fisk had personality in spades and with a slightly dramatic edge to her voice she used this to great effect. Particularly telling was her big aria when she tells both Alberto and Parmenione off, they are not deciding things neatly between the two of them, she will decide whom she marries. It was a finely confident performance, imbuing the heroine with the sort of strength of character which is needed in these operas as otherwise she descends simply into being a canary. I would love to hear Fisk in one of the Isabella Colbran roles Rossini's serious operas. https://www.planethugill.com/2021/08/making-most-of-opportunity-brilliant.html?fbclid=IwAR0uAVV57QW76wkWKaqEGy8kVCgdONNRzf8XbMTZj5Ov_Z-pDygmddOnBNU (2021)
Born and raised in Leeds, Aimée is a graduate of the Royal Academy Opera where she studied under the guidance of soprano Mary Nelson and coach Iain Ledingham. In 2021, Aimée performed the role of Berenice (L’occasione fa il ladro, Rossini) with the British Youth Opera on the Opera Holland Park stage alongside the Southbank Sinfonia. 2020 engagements were to include the role of Miss Wordsworth (Albert Herring, Britten) with the Royal Academy Opera and Thérèse (Les Mamelles de Tirésias, Poulenc) with British Youth Opera which were sadly cancelled due to the Covid-19 crisis.
Onstage Aimée has performed the roles of Pamina (Die Zauberflöte, Mozart), La Comtesse (Chérubin, Massenet) Sophie (Der Rosenkavalier, Strauss), Giulietta (I Capuleti e i Montecchi, Bellini), Cupid (Semele, Handel), Cathleen (Riders to the Sea, Vaughan Williams), Musetta (La Bohème, Puccini), Diane (Actéon, Charpentier), Petra (A Little Night Music, Sondheim).
Equally at home on the concert platform, engagements have included Verdi’s Requiem, Vaughan Williams’ Serenade to Music, Mozart’s Requiem, Haydn’s Creation, Handel's Messiah, Orff’s Carmina Burana, Mozart’s Coronation Mass and Vivaldi's Gloria. In 2015 Aimée was a finalist in the Cecil Drew Oratorio prize and placed 3rd in the Mario Lanza Opera prize in 2016.
During her undergraduate, Aimée took part in an Erasmus exchange where she spent a term studying bel canto and Italian arias intensively under the tuition of mezzo soprano Daniela Broganelli and renowned accompanist and language coach Ubaldo Fabbri at the Conservatorio di G. Rossini in Italy, performing at many different venues in and around the Marche region.
Post undergraduate, Aimée studied at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest where she was the recipient of the Joseph Weingarten scholarship. Studying under Hungarian tenor Attila Kiss, Aimée took part in masterclasses with the notable Andrea Rost, Georgian conductor George Tchitchinadze and performed as soloist for the French Embassy and at the Municipal Palace of Arts.
Alongside her love for classical and operatic singing, Aimée performs regularly with various jazz ensembles throughout the UK and abroad, singing at venues including Budapest Jazz Club and the “Rush Hour Jazz” programme at Symphony Hall in Birmingham.
