Italian-trained soprano, Alexandra Hamilton, is based in Milan. She was born in South Africa, of Scottish heritage. Her operatic debut was in 2016 in Italy at the Teatro Mancinelli in Orvieto singing the role of Clarina in 'La cambiale di matrimonio' by Rossini, later followed by Musetta (La Bohème), Suor Genovieffa (Suor Angelica), Susanna (Le nozze di Figaro), Nella (Gianni Schicchi), Meg (Falstaff), Lola (Cavalleria Rusticana), Berta (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Contessa di Ceprano and Giovanna (Rigoletto), Annina (La Traviata) and Kate Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly). She has sung under the guidance of conductors Maurizio Arena, Vittorio Parisi and Marco Guidarini. She did her professional opera training in Italy under the Italian soprano Gabriella Ravazzi. She was a semifinalist in both the "International Sacred Music Competition" in Rome, and the "Concorso Internazionale San Colombano " in Piacenza (Italy).
As a soloist she has performed at various high profile events, including the “King’s Birthday Party”, a gala event paying tribute to His Majesty King Charles III, hosted by the British Consulate-General in Milan, at Villa Necchi Campiglio. It was broadcast on TGV television. She has also performed, by special invitation, for the Italian Consulate in Cape Town (South Africa).
Her formal music training began at the age of 7 with the violin. She graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree in Singing and Violin from the University of Cape Town, and then with a Bachelor of Arts Honours degree in Italian Language and Literature from the same university. She has been awarded an Associate Diploma in Singing from Trinity College London. She has attended dancing and stagecraft lessons with Anthony Rau (Enerchi Dance School) and Debbie Turner (Cape Academy of Performing Arts).
