Amy Kearsley is a mezzo soprano from Wigan. She completed her postgraduate vocal studies with distinction at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance under the tutelage of Neil Baker and Panaretos Kyriatzidis. She was the Charles Jacobs Vocal Scholar and recipient of the Help Musicians’ Postgraduate Award. For Trinity Laban Opera, Amy performed the roles of First Witch in Errollyn Wallen’s 'Dido’s Ghost'; Justine in Libby Larsen’s 'Frankenstein or the Modern Prometheus'; Olivia in Jennifer Hamilton’s new jukebox opera 'Strozzi'; and co-created the role of Elém in Edward Jessen’s new sonic theatre work 'Syllable'. Outside of her studies, Amy’s operatic experiences include performing as Deborah in a new co-created opera 'You Can’t Kill the Spirit' at the Tête à Tête Festival 2024; the solo mezzo-soprano in Hampstead Garden Opera’s production of Purcell’s 'Fairy Queen'; the title role in Patrick Shepherd’s new opera 'Adela' at the Tête à Tête Festival 2021 with Manchester Contemporary Youth Opera; and the role of Jill in Brent Opera’s production of Edward German’s Merrie England. Alongside her operatic work, Amy teaches at the Becky Dell Music Academy and is a keen choral conductor. She is music director of Greenwich Carers Voices and conductor of the University of Surrey Choir. Amy is also a founding member of The Ruffians, a new music collective specialising in experimental unaccompanied vocal music and improvisation.
