Danish mezzo soprano Anne-Sofie Søby Jensen began her Prep Opera Master studies at the Royal Academy of Music in London in September 2017 for which she has been awarded an entry scholarship. She is a student of the internationally acknowledged teachers Susan McCulloch, Giles Underwood and James Baillieu. Anne-Sofie is a member of Academy’s prestigious Song Circle as well as KOHN Foundation Bach Cantata soloists. Being a keen lieder recitalist in Denmark, Anne-Sofie is also an experienced oratorio soloist having sung alto solos in major works as Rossini’s “Petite Messe Solenelle” with Iain Ledingham and Vivaldi’s “Gloria” with German Choir of London. Future engagements include Handel’s “The Messiah” with Camerata Øresund and Bach’s “St. Matthew Passion” with Trevor Pinnock. In 2019 Anne-Sofie will make her role debut as Rosmira in Handel's "Partenope" with Hampstead Garden Opera. Other operatic performances include L’enfant in “L’enfant et les Sortilègès” with Royal Danish Academy of Music. Anne-Sofie was Commended at the Isabel Jay Prize Competition and a Schumann Lieder Prize finalist within her first year at RAM. Earlier awards and prizes include 1st Prize, National Danish Opera Prize and Ulrich Stærk Prize at “Young Singers 2013” in Denmark. She is grateful to be supported by the Leverhulme Trust, Josephine Baker Trust, Augustinus Foundation and the Danish Odd Fellow Order.
