Belgian soprano Astrid Joos has several opera roles under her belt, including ‘Susanna’ and 'Barbarina' in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro, ‘Pamina’ in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, 'Serpetta' in Mozart's La Finta Giardiniera, 'Climene' in Cavalli's L'Egisto and ‘Woglinde’ in Wagner’s Götterdämmerung. Astrid was educated at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, where she recently obtained a Master of Performance degree with Distinction.
In the 2018-2019 season, Astrid was part of the International Opera Academy in Ghent. During her time there she performed at Opera Ballet Vlaanderen several times, singing the role of Edelknabe 2 in their production of Wagner's Lohengrin, and performing in several Lunch Concerts.
Astrid is also well-versed in Lied and oratorio. She was part of Lucienne Van Deyck and Jozef De Beenhouwer's Liedstudio at the Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp. During her time at the Guildhall School she has worked with renowned Lied pianists, such as Eugene Asti and Ian Burnside. Her oratorio repertoire includes Messiah and the Bach passions.
