Strauss - Epheu, accompanied by Jacob Plumtree-Jones & recorded at the University of Birmingham
Having sparked her love of singing in the Royal Opera House Youth Opera Company and Garsington Youth Opera (Eliza, John Barber's 'Eliza and the Swans'; Sun, Richard Taylor's 'Creation'), Beth obtained a music degree at the University of Birmingham, where she sang in the Birmingham University Singers under Bob Chilcott and UoB Voices under Simon Halsey (Carmina Burana (BBC Proms, 2023), Stanford's Requiem (Hyperion Records, 2022)). Whilst in Birmingham, Beth also enjoyed three years pursuing her passion of Gilbert & Sullivan operettas, performing roles such as Phyllis ('Iolanthe', 2022), Mabel, ('Pirates of Penzance, 2022') and Gianetta ('The Gondoliers', 2023), as well as Sofia in Rossini's 'Il Signor Bruschino' with South Birmingham Opera (2023).
Now in her second year of a Vocal Performance Masters at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, studying under Gail Pearson, Beth has enjoyed a diverse plethora of opportunities, such as the soprano soloist in Orff's 'Carmina Burana', chorus and cover La fata azzura in Respighi's 'La bella dormente nel bosco' (under Carlo Rizzi), Mustardseed in Britten's 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' (also learning to play the recorder for the role!) and premiering a song cycle version of John Hardy's opera 'redmoonsong', working with Hardy himself on realising the performance. Elsewhere, Beth has enjoyed performing choral and oratorio works, such as the soprano soloist in Brahms' 'Requiem' with Exeter Bach Choir.
Upcoming 2024/5 performances include Mary Magdalene in Handel's 'La Resurrezione' and extracts from Schoenberg's 'Pierrot Lunaire' with Ensemble 360.
