Billie is a soprano based in West Sussex. She trained at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland where she studied with Elizabeth McCormack. While a student, she won two prizes at the Charles Wood International Song Competition in 2020 and she received the Agnes Millar Prize upon graduating from RCS in 2021. Billie was a Monteverdi Choir apprentice for the 2023-24 season, taking part in all UK and European performances, and continues to sing as a member, next of all for the Bachfest 2024 in Leipzig.
Recent choral engagements have included Brahms Requiem with the Monteverdi Choir and Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam, Berlioz Les Troyens with the Monteverdi Choir as part of the Salzburg Festival and BBC Proms in 2023, and step-out solos with Armonico Consort to record the newly-rediscovered oratorio 'Daniele' by Francesco Scarlatti. She will sing with Utopia Choir at the Salzburg Festival this year, performing in the Matthew Passion under Teodor Currentzis.
Billie recently sang the role of Reader in 'States of Innocence', a new opera by Ed Hughes, starring Sir John Tomlinson, and premiering at the Brighton Festival. She has sung chorus in several operas, including La Bohème, Anna Bolena and Hansel and Gretel.
Billie began singing as a chorister at Norwich Cathedral followed by an undergraduate degree in music at the University of Cambridge, where she held a choral scholarship at Gonville and Caius College. During her time there, the choir went on numerous international tours, and she featured as a soloist for several broadcasts and recordings.
