Of Portuguese and Belgian descendency, Catarina Sereno graduates in vocal studies in Portugal before attending The Guildhall School of Music and drama where she studied on The Guildhall Artists Masters Programme on a Gulbenkian Scholarship. She has been a Guildhall Artist Fellow and an ENOA Scholar.

Roles include Maria in Maria de Buenos Aires by Piazzolla, Irma in Louise by Charpentier, Tatyana in Eugene Onegin, Julie’s cover in Dvorak's Jacobins, Circe in the world première of Viagron by Arne Gieshoff, Pamina in The Magic Flute, Medoro in Orlando Generoso, Voce 4 in Berio’s Laborintus II, Elle in Poulenc's La Voix Humaine, Jessy in Kurt Weill's Das Kleine Mahagonny and Madame Silberklang in Mozart's Der Schauspieldirektor. Companies and Festivals include La Monnaie, Grange Park Opera, Buxton Festival, OperaView, Mahogany Opera, Size Zero Opera, Tete-a-Tete and Grimeborn.

An accomplished recitalist, Catarina has performed at St Martin-in-the-Fields, Southwark Cathedral, Calouste Gulbenkian Museum, Grande Salle du CNM Bruxelles, has recorded for Portuguese radio Antena 2 and has collaborated with cello octet Cellophony.

Concert appearances include soprano solos in Mozart's Requiem, Pergolesi's Stabat Mater and Salve Regina, Bach’s Magnificat, Vivaldi’s Gloria and a broadcast for BBC Radio 4.
