Competitions
Finalist Welsh Singers Competition (2022)
Dafydd Allen is recent graduate of the Royal College of Music. Dafydd is a WNO Associate Artist, supported by the Sheila & Richard Brooks Bursary, Anthony Evans Scholarship and Chris Ball Bursary. He has recently made the transition from Baritone to Tenor, under the guidance of Christopher Turner, previous teachers include Brindley Sherratt and Roderick Earle.
During WNO’s 2022/23 Season, Dafydd has performed the roles of Boris Cherry Town, Moscow by Shostakovich, Stage Technician/Doctor The Makropulos Affair by Janaček and soon the perform the Agent in the world premier of Blaze of Glory! By David Hackbridge Johnson.
Prior to this, Dafydd also played the Father Hansel and Gretel and Speaker The Magic Flute (RCM International Opera Studio), Masetto Don Giovanni (Opra Cymru), and William Minnock in David Hackbridge Johnson’s Madeleine (world premiere, Surrey Opera). In 2022, Dafydd reached the final round of the Welsh Singers Competition for selection to the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World 2023 competition.
