Born in Bahrain, Anglo-Greek lyric soprano Danae Eleni is currently researching 19th-21st

In December 2020 Danae won the Pawla Sztompke Radio Prize at the International Operetta Competition - Iwona Borowicka, in Krakow. Before moving to Warsaw, Danae made her role debut as Susanna Le Nozze di Figaro and re-interpreted the character in a contemporary look at women’s rights in Brignall’s Roles: Susanna (Metta Theatre), in the V&A’s Raphael Gallery. In February Danae led opera workshops in Bosnia with English Pocket Opera Company. In Summer 2021, Danae will sing Valencienne Die lustige Witwe, and Annina La traviata for Opera de Baugé.

Danae read Psychology, Philosophy, Physiology and Phonetics at Worcester College (Oxford) and studied Voice at the Royal College of Music (London). Passionate about education and contemporary music, Danae was soprano-in-residence for the 2nd International Composer/Performer Festival (Athens), and is a Guest Lecturer in Voice at Yale-NUS (Singapore). She has led workshops for Garsington Opera Education, Baseless Fabric, and across the UK and the Middle East. Danae has also performance-lectured on Maths and Music for “Maths Teams”, a charity making Mathematics more popular and inclusive. As a storyteller and performance artist, Danae has performed for the Malala Fund and the Young Muslim Writers’ Awards.
