Bass-Baritone David Ireland is currently a Young Artist at the National Opera Studio. He is also studying on the prestigious Artist Diploma course a the Guildhall School of Music & Drama with Robert Dean. Before this, David studied for an Advanced Certificate on the Opera Course and graduated with distinction from the Masters in Performance (Guildhall Masters) vocal course, both at the GSMD.
His concert performances have included Verdi’s Messa di Requiem, Handel’s Messiah, Haydn’s Creation, Paukenmesse, Stabat Mater and Theresienmesse, Beethoven’s Mass in C, Fauré’s Requiem, Karl Jenkins’ The Armed Man, Mozart’s Requiem, Bach’s Mass in B Minor and St. John Passion and Monteverdi's Vespers.
David’s opera performances have included the roles of :

and chorus roles in The Royal Opera’s production of Monteverdi’s Orfeo at the Roundhouse, Camden, also covering Charon. David also covered the roles of Zaretsky - Eugene Onegin and Neptune - Idomeneo as an Alvarez Young Artist at Garsington Opera in 2016. David also performed the role of Pooh-Bah in an extended national tour of The Mikado.

With the National Opera Studio, David performed scenes as Leporello (Don Giovanni), Figaro (Le nozze di Figaro) and Don Alfonso (Così fan tutte) with the orchestra of Opera North in Leeds.
As part of the new ‘Opera Makers’ course at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, David created the role of Chorus 2 in Laurence Osborn’s Narkissus and the Reflektions, which he also performed at the Royal Opera House’s Clore Studio and at the Solti Hall in Budapest.
David has also taken part in masterclasses with Brindley Sherratt, dramatic soprano Susan Bullock and bass Neal Davies.
Also a praised recitalist, he was awarded the Concert Recital Diploma for his MMus Final Recital. A song cycle, Among the Streams, was written for him by Alex Patterson in 2011.
