Emily Stewart is a 21-year-old soprano from Altrincham, Cheshire. Emily has been singing since a very early age but began classical training at the age of 13. In 2016, Emily joined the Junior RNCM where she studied voice with Linda Richardson and was a member of the JRNCM vocal ensemble in which she performed as an ensemble member and soloist. In 2019 Emily won the Chester Young Musician Competition and has since performed recitals for Chester Music Society both virtually and in person. In September of 2020, Emily started her bachelor’s degree in music at the Royal Northern College of Music studying under the tutelage of Deborah Rees, and then Linda Richardson. During her time in college, Emily has been awarded the Elsie Thurston Song Prize and the Alexander Young Prize for singing Handel, Mozart, and Schubert, and was also nominated to represent the RNCM in the Junior Kathleen Ferrier Competition. She attained a place with the RNCM Songsters, was a member of the RNCM Chamber Choir and was in the chorus of “Le Nozze Di Figaro”. She has been in several productions with Dorset Opera Festival and is returning this year to sing the role “La Cugina” in Madama Butterfly, as well as perform as a soloist in “Under The Greenwood Tree” and in the 50th Anniversary Gala. She has frequently performed in oratorios and recitals across the Northwest, and plans to pursue a career as an opera and recital singer.
