Hong Kong tenor Francis Ng is a laureate of the 7th International Haydn Competition for Classical
Lied and Aria in Rohrau, Austria (2025), where he was awarded the Prize for the Best Lied
Interpretation. He is also the First Prize winner of the 4th International Nehama Lifshitz Vocal
Competition in Vilnius, Lithuania (2024). In 2023, he was among the prizewinners of the International
Singing Competition of Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg (Germany), where he performed the role of
Don Luigino in Paisiello’s La Molinara.
Francis is in demand as a concert soloist across a broad repertoire. His concert work includes the
Evangelist and aria parts in Bach’s St. Matthew Passion and St. John Passion, Bach’s Mass in B
minor, Handel’s Messiah, Mozart’s Requiem, Mendelssohn’s Die erste Walpurgisnacht, Rossini’s
Petite Messe Solennelle, Janáček’s Otčenáš, Puccini’s Messa di Gloria, and many others.
In opera, he is steadily forging his path. In summer 2021, he sang Le Remendado in Bizet’s Carmen
with Opera Spanga; in 2022, Nemorino in Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore (Opera Viva Festival, Woerden)
and Nadir in Bizet’s Les Pêcheurs de Perles (Opera Festa, Leiden). At Festival Via Musica 2023, he
appeared as Midas in a staged version of Bach’s Der Streit zwischen Phoebus und Pan with the
Apollo Ensemble.
In the 2023–24 season, his roles included Nemorino (L’elisir d’amore) with Operakoor Belcanto in
Velsen, Macduff (Macbeth) with Opera Festa in Leiden, and Lensky (Eugene Onegin) with Opera op
het Hogeland in Groningen. In summer 2025, he made his debut as Don Basilio in Mozart’s Le Nozze
di Figaro at the Regium Lepidi Opera Festival in Italy, and returned to Opera op het Hogeland as
Lensky.
Francis completed his Master’s degree in Classical Singing (cum laude) at Codarts Rotterdam in
2020 under the guidance of tenor Marcel Reijans. His undergraduate degree is a Bachelor of Arts in
Music (First-class Honours) from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He has also participated in
masterclasses with Margreet Honig, Carolyn Watkinson, Katharine Goeldner, and Dongjian Gong,
and is an alumnus of the opera atelier of The Fat Lady in Haarlem, led by conductor/composer Tamir
Chasson.
