Harry Jacques studied music at Bristol University as an organist. During this time, he sang in Bristol’s University Chamber Choir and University Singers. Whilst holding organ-playing positions, Harry has gained experience as a choral tenor at St David’s Cathedral, St Mary Redcliffe and Carlisle Cathedral. In 2018, Harry qualified as a secondary school teacher, before taking up the position of Organist and Teacher of Music at Oakham School, where he accompanied the school’s choirs and conducted Oakham Choral Society. He developed ensemble experience singing as a VOCES8 Scholar and with the cathedral choirs of Lincoln and Southwell, including for commercial recordings and radio broadcasts. In 2019, Harry had his first experience singing opera as a Young Artist with Waterperry Opera Festival, performing a staged version of Britten’s Abraham and Isaac and as a chorus member in Mozart’s The Magic Flute. Whilst studying with John Graham-Hall, he gained experience as the Evangelist in Bach’s St John Passion and recently performed Mass in B minor with the Seville Baroque Orchestra. Harry began studying at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in September 2022, where he is taught by Adrian Thompson and John Evans with the generous support of the Edith Vogel bursary and the D'Oyly Carte Charitable Trust scholarship.
