Héloïse Bernard is a French-American singer based in Glasgow, currently studying with Wilma MacDougall in the Masters program at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. She holds a Bachelor in Music from the Estonian National Academy of Music and Theatre and a Masters in French Literature from the University of Paris.
Throughout her studies she participated in master classes with Roberta Alexander, Carolyne Watkinson, Alexandra Papadjakou, Michèle Command, Anne Grapotte, Roger Vignolles, Ton Koopman...
On stage she has appeared as Missia in the Merry Widow, from Lehàr, Eurydice in Orphée aux Enfers, and Wanda in La Grande duchesse de Gerolstein, from Offenbach, all at the Festival of Opera Bouffe d’Etriché, in France. She has sung Mélisande in Auri Jurna's creation of Pelleas/Mélisande at the Theatre Von Glehni in Tallinn and at the International Student Drama Festival in Tartu.
Very fond of baroque music, she has performed profane and sacred repertoire with various ensembles in France (Ormeona in Keiser's opera Ocatvia), the Netherlands and Estonia, where she has been Dido in Dido and Aeneas with Reinut Tepp and the Young Baroque Ensemble.
Deeply interested in chamber repertoire, Héloïse collaborates regularly with the pianist José Javier Ucendo Malo, with whom they were awarded the third prize in the Lied Duo competition in Tallinn last April.
She also nourishes a particular interest in contemporary music, being involved in a couple projects with young composers and poets. Heloïse also explores the folk repertoire. She collaborates with Romy Wijmer (clarsach) and is working at the moment with the composer Gregor Forbes on a collection and adaptation of protest songs.
