Hollie-Anne Bangham mezzo-soprano

Hollie-Anne Bangham, mezzo-soprano originally from Bristol, recently completed a Masters in music, postgraduate diploma and undergraduate degree at the Royal Northern College of Music both with a First class under the tutelage of Ann Taylor. Hollie-anne has been awarded the Annie Riydard Scholarship for Mezzo-Sopranos and the Kate Snape Scholarship as well as a finalist for the Joaniha award and the Elizabeth Harwood Memorial prize. She now continues her studies with Richard Berkeley- Steele.

Operatic engagements during her time at the RNCM include performing chorus in operas such as Bizet’s Carmen, Britten’s Vanessa and Handel’s Xerses. She has played the roles of Nancy in Britten’s Albert Herring, Hermia in Britten’s Midsummer Night’s Dream, Soeur Mathilde in Poulenc’s Dialogue of the Carmelites, Dorothee in Massenet’s Cendrillon and Ma Moss in Copland’s The Tender Land in RNCM Opera Scenes. Hermia in the RNCM production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Fillipyvena with Opera on Location for their production of Eugene Onegin and Olga Olsen in the RNCM production of Street scene in December 2015. Hollie-anne has recently performed as Witness 2 in the World Premiere of Icarus (David Blake and Keith Warner) in Montepulciano, Italy.

On the concert platform Hollie-Anne has performed the alto solos in Nelson Mass (Haydn), Mass in Time of War (Haydn), Gloria (Vivaldi), Messiah (Handel) Petite Messe Sollenelle (Rossini) and Mozart Vespers (Mozart). She has been fortunate to work alongside many prestigious conductors including Sir Mark Elder in the chorus of Beethoven’s Symphony No 9 at Bridgewater Hall, as well as Richard Egaar with the Ancient Music Academy at the Barbican, London. Hollie-Anne has had the privilege of performing at the Notre Dame, Paris and as a soloist with a Ukrainian choir, in Kyiv, Ukraine under the baton of bass-baritone, Pavlo Hunka. Recently Hollie-anne has performed as the Alto soloist for Penderecki’s UK premiere of the Seven Gates of Jerusalem, conducted by Penderecki himself at the Bridgewater Hall.
