Imogen Baker is a British lyric coloratura soprano currently pursuing advanced vocal studies at the Swiss Opera Studio in Biel, Switzerland. Her artistic journey has been marked by a commitment to both classical performance and continuous artistic development.

After completing her Bachelor of Music at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire (with Amanda Roocroft), where she was recognised with the John Ireland Prize and the Edwards Brooks Lieder Prize, Imogen continued her vocal training at the Royal Academy of Music in London (with Susan Waters & Joseph Middleton). During her time at RAM, she distinguished herself through compelling performances in opera scenes, including notable roles such as Norina in Donizetti's Don Pasquale and Lucia in Britten's The Rape of Lucretia.

Her operatic repertoire spans a diverse range of styles and periods, from Early music to Contemporary works. Recent highlights include her participation in Glyndebourne's Opera Lab and RAM's Opera Makers programme, where she has explored new works and collaborated with contemporary directors. She has also performed recitals at Wigmore Hall and Regent's Hall in London, presenting a mix of traditional and modern repertoire.

Prior to her postgraduate studies, Imogen developed a rich musical foundation through her choral experiences, including membership in the Winchester Cathedral Girls' Choir and performances at prestigious venues like the BBC Proms. Her early training under teachers Elaine Brogden and Hilary Llystyn-Jones laid the groundwork for her professional development.

Alongside her performance career, Imogen has cultivated a parallel path in music education. She has worked as a singing teacher with the Northamptonshire Music & Performing Arts Trust and holds the position of Audience & Engagement Manager for the Waterperry Opera Festival, demonstrating her multifaceted approach to the musical arts.

Currently guided by renowned coaches Marcus Niedermeyr and Franco Trinca at the Swiss Opera Studio, Imogen continues to refine her craft and explore the nuanced world of classical vocal performance.
