Covered Covered & Performed Scenes Premiere of New Work Concert
(Translation: Dear Ms. Ilnytska, I would like to thank you on behalf of the whole choir for your performance in our Rachmaninov's Vespers concerts. Your voice in the solos added a charming colour to the concert’s Orthodox church timbre produced by deep basses). Ulrich Brueckner, Co-President, REGIO-CHOIR Binningen/Basel (2010)
Iryna Ilnytska, mezzo soprano, a native of the city Stakhanov in Ukraine, began studying music at the age of eight. At the age of twelve, she took the first prize at the opera competition in Lugansk (Ukraine) for young singers. In the final she sang Olga’s aria from Tchaikovsky’s “Pique Dame”. A few years later she sang the whole Olga’s role on the stage of Kiev Opera Studio. The roles of Carmen and Dalila followed soon afterwards. In Kiev Iryna studied with Mrs. Tatiana Tripolskaya.
In summer 2013 Iryna graduated from the Institute of Music in Milan (Milano Scuola Civica di Milano), where she studied classical voice with Prof. Vincenzo Manno. In her final examinations, she performed the role of Isabella from Rossini’s “L’Italiana in Algeri”. Parallel to her studies in Italy, Iryna was studying German linguistics and literature at the University of Zurich.
Her opera stage debut in Switzerland was the role of she-devil in Shostakovich’s opera “Balda” (“The tale of the priest and his helper Balda”) at the theatres Rigiblick in Zurich and “La fourmi” in Luzern. In collaboration with Trio “Va Bene” Iryna sang at more than thirty concerts in a range of venues in Switzerland. The repertoire included famous arias and duets from operas of Bizet, Verdi, Saint-Saens, Tchaikovsky, Purcell, and Handel. She also performed in concerts in Italy and Ukraine.
Iryna's stage debut in UK will start with a role of Idamantes in W.A. Mozart's opera "Idomeneo" in March 2015.
