The ticket price is worth it for any one of the principals, but special mention must be made of James Corrigan as The Husband, whose rich resonance and touching characterisation make a solid foundation for the success of the piece. -Thomas Forsythe- The Twickenham Tribute (2017)
The stand-out performance, both vocally and dramatically, was James Corrigan as Papageno who brought a wide-range of emotion and humour to his performance. http://www.dailyinfo.co.uk/feature/11368/the-magic-flute (2016)
Poised, silvery solos from violinist Hannah Padmore stood out, as did lyrical alto lines from Judy Brown and the strong bass of James Corrigan. http://www.heraldscotland.com/news/13537537.Music_review__Kellie_Consort__St_Mary___s_Episcopal_Cathedral__Glasgow/ (2015)
James Corrigan, who alone of the principals sang at every performance, had no problems with the notoriously awkward vocal range and was also suitably lithe and athletic. http://www.operascotland.org/tour/2854/Carmen-2014 (2014)
I began singing in 2007 when I required a Second Study for a Higher Music exam in my final year of secondary school and it swiftly became a passion. Leaving to study Law at the University of Aberdeen I supplemented my studies by becoming heavily involved with the music groups and societies. Following graduation from University I began my Studies at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland under the tutelage of George Gordon.
Since graduating from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (RCS) in 2015, I have worked as a freelance singer involved in various projects: singing the role of The Husband in the UK premier of Philip Glass and Robert Moran’s The Juniper Tree, performing as part of Janice Kerbel’s 2015/2016 Turner Prize entry, Doug, stepping in at short notice to cover the role of The Forester for British Youth Opera’s The Cunning Little Vixen, touring as Papageno for Opera Anywhere and Guglielmo for Opera Loki throughout the UK and France. I am excited to be a part of Garsington Opera’s Alvarez Young Artist’s Programme, where I will be Understudying the role of the Count in La Nozze di Figaro and singing chorus in both Figaro and Semele in their current season. Looking to the future I will be singing be singing the role of the Count in a reduced version of La Nozze di Figaro for Garsington Opera and the role of Papageno in Ayrshire Opera’s production of The Magic Flute in the premier of their Scots language translation.
A well as staged works I am a keen choral singer and have held a Bass Scholarship at Paisley Abbey for four years.
