James is an Alumnus of Trinity College of Music in London. He was awarded the “Vladimir Piontkovsky Memorial” Scholarship to take part in the Berlin Opera Academy Young Artist Programme where he performed as ‘Don Ottavio’ in their production of Mozart’s ‘Don Giovanni’.
James has been praised as multi-faceted performer. He combines his skills as a strong actor with a golden tenor voice. He has appeared in such prestigious venues as The Royal Albert Hall, The Royal Festival Hall, The Barbican Centre and Manchester’s Bridgewater Hall, whilst also giving performances in smaller, more intimate venues in the UK. He has performed in various venues throughout Europe. James has sung with multiple opera companies and in festivals such as the Dorset Opera Festival, Blackheath Halls Opera, Hurn Court Opera, Grange Park Opera and, most recently, the Berlin Opernfest.
His Operatic repetoire includes ‘Tamino' (Die Zauberflöte), ‘Lensky' (Eugene Onegin), ‘Don José’ (Carmen), ‘Alfredo’ (La Traviata) and ‘Tybalt’ (Roméo et Juilette). James also has a wide range of experience in performing as a soloist in oratorios including Mozart’s ‘Requiem’, Haydn’s ‘The Creation’, Rossini’s ‘Stabat Mater’, J.S Bach’s ‘St John’s Passion’ as the Evangelist, Handel’s ‘Messiah’ and John Stainer’s ‘The Crucifixion’.
In the new year James will be playing ‘Antonia Candolino (Toni) the tenor’ in the play ‘Master Class’ by Terrence McNally at the Shelly Theatre in Dorset. James will be performing as the tenor soloist in Bach’s ‘St. Matthews Passion’ with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and Chorus at the Poole Lighthouse Theatre.
